The second in the world metallurgical plant based on the new steel-making process ITmk3 will be established in Kazakhstan. This project was supported by the President of the republic of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev at his meeting with the founders of the international Association of the Third Generation of Iron and Steel Technologies 3GIST.
July 4, 2009, Astana - a delegation of businessmen from Japan, US and Ukraine arrived in Astana to bring to the attention of the President the plans of the implementation of the project of the construction of an ITmk3 metallurgical plant in Kazakhstan.
The delegates told the President about the revolutionary ITmk3 process and its advantages, as well as how that process can help modernize the production of pig iron from iron ore concentrate. The process ensures more efficient, energy-saving and environmentally friendly production.
To promote this technology internationally, its authors and developers plan to create the international Association of the Third Generation of Iron and Steel Technologies (3GIST) which will be registered in Tokyo, Japan. The Association will provide assistance to the development of new processes in metallurgical and steel industry.
